Making Magic for A Better Tomorrow with Everything We Need

Consumerism is a cornerstone of our lives. We are bombarded by ads, surrounded by stuff, and consistently pressured to buy more. And much of what we purchase and use ends up in a landfill, emitting harmful pollutants into our atmosphere, or degrades into microplastics that enter our waterways, our soil, and ultimately our bodies.

Now, this is sobering talk at any age— but it’s not terribly age appropriate for young children, nor should it be their burden to understand or fix. At the same time, we have an opportunity to share messages and actions with the future generation that aligns with our true values and shows how affirming and magical life can be when we turn to alternatives that eliminate or reduce waste. Rather than a burden, waste reduction can feel empowering and build up community.

This is the reason I wanted to write Everything We Need. My hope is that we all can learn the lesson of living with less and discovering the magic in what we have. It’s a lesson I continuously need to learn. There’s no need to do it perfectly, but every small action counts. I think these actions feel pretty good, too.

Here’s to building a happier, healthier future together.
